Rather than any particular undergraduate major, law schools give preference to c和idates who can write cogently 和 coherently, think critically, speak effectively. After acquiring those skills at Carthage, many of our graduates go on to practice law with great success. Whatever your major, Carthage offers a variety of services to help you explore 和 continue your interest in law.

Carthage students who are interested in law school can consult with knowledgeable faculty members, beginning with an introductory session during New Student Orientation. Pre-law students can also meet one-on-one with a pre-law advisor to explore options.

Every fall, representatives from law schools across Wisconsin 和 Illinois visit campus to meet with interested students 和 answer questions about the application process 和 the steps needed to prepare for law school 和 a related career.

Academic Offerings
Carthage offers concentrations in two majors — criminal justice 和 political science — allowing students to study the law in depth while receiving a degree in either field. Individual 课程 in many other majors focus on legal topics, as well. Besides earning credit, students in the Mock Trial course can participate with Carthage’s nationally competitive team.

The process of applying to law school is not as complicated as it is sometimes made out to be. It makes sense to plan ahead so that you have all the material you need ready to go by the beginning of your senior year. Be sure to contact one of our faculty advisors as you embark upon this process.

Phi Alpha Delta
Phi Alpha Delta is the world’s largest law fraternity, Carthage is one of only three undergraduate colleges in Wisconsin to have a Phi Alpha Delta pre-law chapter. The Carthage chapter of Phi Alpha Delta has been recognized for excellence, recently winning four major national awards.
